** MY MORNING**
Before we get to the weekly update: this morning something that has always been at the back of my mind as a “wouldn’t it be funny/crazy if”… situations happened to me. I wouldn’t necessarily call it a fear that I have but one of those things that you think about… As many of you you saw on Facebook this morning I was trapped in the elevator at work. Here is how it went down. I got to work and walked in the door and was greeted by Sharon (one of our receptionists) and she told me that the phone system was down, and I thought to myself… “darn I can’t listen to all those voicemails that I don’t have. My day is ruined.” [Since the beginning of my third trimester I have been taking the elevator up to the third floor, otherwise I spend 10 minutes trying to catch my breath (darn baby scrunching up my lungs) and I don’t want to take the chance that I fall up the stairs, that would be no bueno.] So I hit the elevator button and the door opens, I walk in hit the 3rd floor button, the door closes, and then the lights turn off. The elevator is not working. This was at 7:50am. I sat there and waited a minute or two to see if the elevator would start up again, but it didn’t. I texted Ben that I was trapped in the elevator and that if I didn’t get out that I loved him. Then I started knocking and yelling, and no one could hear me. Once I realized no one could hear me I called up my office buddy Becky (aka B$) and told her that I was trapped in the elevator and when she got to work to tell someone so they could get me out. Once I hung up with B$ someone tried to use the elevator and discovered that someone was in there and that it was me. Everyone started freaking out because I am “super pregnant”(their words not mine), and since the phones weren’t working people had to go and find maintenance. This was about 8am. Maintenance came down and ended up using a crowbar to get me out. I spent a total of 15 minutes in the elevator. What a great start to the day.
35 weeks ago I became pregnant, and I found out about 3 weeks later. That thought blows my mind, even though I know that I have been pregnant for pretty much ALL of 2014. Hopefully I will get to meet this little person in 35 days, or less (I hope for less)!
A bunch of the pregnancy boards and apps I follow along with are suggesting that I put together a birth plan. I brought this up to my doctor a while back and she basically said, you have never experienced birth before so how do you know how you want it to be? Which I found to be a fantastic point. I am not the biggest planner anyways; I am more of a go with the flow kind of gal. I am not going to try and fool myself that by writing down what I want I will get the birth that I want. In an ideal world my birth would be drug free, painless, and super quick with no bleeding, oh and I get my body back instantly. Now we all know that this isn’t going to happen. All I want is for my little girl to come into the world healthy, if I need drugs: fine, give them to me. If I need a C-Section: great, let’s do this! All that matters is Little Lady! That is my birth plan.
The beginning of the burp cloths.
This past week was pretty low key. I met with my doctor about my anemia. My Ferritin levels have more than doubled, but my hemoglobin is still on the low side. Since my numbers are improving and I am finally starting to feel better, we will continue the course of action: iron pills 3 times a day.
I also started making some burp cloths. All of the material is cut out I just need to find the rest of my sewing stuff so I can finish and wash them. Once they are done I will do a blog post about them. They look really cute so far, I can’t wait to see how they look when they are finished.
Before we get on with the update fun I would like to give a shout out to Ben. I would like to say that I could not have chosen a better person to spend the rest of my life and to start a family with. Everything I have thrown his way during this pregnancy he has taken in stride and dealt with it calmly and rationally. He is constantly reassuring me that I will be a great mom (I have my doubts), that I am beautiful, that he will be with me every step of the way, that I am not losing my mind, and that Little Lady won’t be ugly (don’t judge me for the last one, it’s a real fear of mine). He is even thinking about not going to a conference in Madison in September because we are getting close to my due date (I told him to go, Madison is only an hour and 45 minutes away and he would get back here in time if anything happened… that didn’t make him feel better so we will be playing that weekend by ear). I mean… How did I get so lucky!?
How far along? 35 Weeks or 245 days
Total weight gain/loss: +26
How big is baby: Baby is measuring in at 17.2-18.7 inches long. That’s about the size of a Coconut. Weighing in at 4.2 to 5.8 pounds. She should be gaining .5lbs a week. She should have broken the 5lb. mark.
Maternity clothes? It’s all that fits me. There are a few pre-pregnancy t-shirts I can wear because they are longer but they are still super tight everywhere.
Sleep: Sleep is a little bit better this week. Probably because I am plain exhausted by 8pm.
Best moment this week: This week was pretty low key, which is always nice.
Movement: Her movement is down, I’m pretty sure that it has to do with her having very little room to roll and nudge. I’ll be sure to mention it to the doctor if it keeps getting less and less.
Food cravings: Always hungry, but for nothing in particular. Nothing sounds good any more. Although Fish Sticks sound good right now…
Gender: Little Lady
Belly Button in or out? Amazingly I still have an innie, a very very shallow innie.
Symptoms: I am still feeling the anemia, but it is getting better, the dizziness has most definitely calmed down.
I have been very tired – Not sure if it’s from the anemia or we are back on the pregnancy symptom train.
The amount of times I have used the restroom is ridiculous. She needs to stop punching me in the bladder.
My boobs are still leaking… gross/weird but it’s a good thing.
My feet are also swollen and it isn’t going down… Time to elevate!
I also have a sore back and hips… massage?
Some round-ligament pain (I think).
This may sound weird but every now and then I get a quick sharp pain down there. Not too sure what it is, if it keeps up I will for sure be calling the nurses.
Signs of Labor: The usual Braxton hicks are there with some real contractions mixed in.
What I miss: I miss the old Krista. This pregnant Krista doesn’t know if she is coming or going, and she is kind of a bitch right now.
What I am looking forward to: I am ready to have this baby. Granted, I am only 2 weeks away from being full term. If she decides to come right now, I won’t be upset.
Milestones: Her hearing is fully developed, and responds best to high-pitched noises.
Her kidneys are fully developed as well, and her liver can process some waste products.
Most of her physical development is complete – she will spend the next few weeks putting on weight (*oh joy*)
